Medical Alert Systems

Council on Aging in Union County can install medical alert buttons at no cost to seniors living in Union County, North Carolina. Council on Aging provides and installs a personal emergency response system (PERS) that does not have a monthly monitoring fee as an affordable option to keep seniors with limited income safe in their own homes.

Devices include a pendant button that when pressed, will call 911. This device reduces the fears of individuals living alone within the community. To receive a PERS, the recipient must be at least 60 years old and reside in Union County, North Carolina.

If you would like to be added to our growing waiting list for a PERS, call our office at (704)-292-1797. Or, email us at coa@coaunion.org.

Union County Council on Aging has distributed more than 100 free alert buttons that provide senior citizens with a level of security in case they have an emergency and need immediate help. “Alice” lives alone at the age of 83, and she says her alert button saved her life after she fell outside and couldn’t get up.
