The Union County Older Adult Interagency Council held its first meeting on December 14, 1987. The organizational minutes state that the purpose of the council is as follows:
It was determined that knowing each other has to be a part of the program in order to better get services for our clients.
The organizational structure for the Union County Older Adults Interagency Council was as follows:
WHO: Representative from agencies/organizations that provide services for older adults. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
WHAT: An organization to:
WHEN: Monday, August 14, 1:30pm. (The Council will meet every other month, the second Monday, at 1:30pm.)
WHERE: Veteran’s Office, 500 N Main St # 14, Monroe, NC 28112; The meeting will rotate around to the various agencies. The host agency for each meeting will be determined at the beginning of each planning year.
The goals of the Interagency Council have remained the same – to work together to remain up-to-date regarding staff and services available for our clients. By networking, we may all be aware of the services provided in our county and the contacts for those services. Because we represent so many services and agencies, as a group we can be a strong advocate for our clients.
Let’s renew our commitment to the older adults in our area by agreeing to work together to advocate for older adult needs.
Meetings are held six times each year. Please join us. If you have ideas or suggestions for meetings, please call or email Linda Smosky, Council on Aging at 704-292-1797 or email@example.com
